Why are legumes included in the diet that primitive man ate? I thought they did not and that that is therefore why they aren’t allowed in the paleo diet. Thanks.

ummmm, can Erin get a reply? I’m terribly interested as well… Removing legumes creates a big protein hole that I have been filling with meat. Upwards of 8 crossfit and cf endurance workouts builds a unique kind of protein hunger, and I’m worried about the amount of meat I’ve been eating to stave off the need.

If legumes are out (though the Tim Ferriss slow-carb diet relies heavily on them), how do we feed ourselves while leaving the 6lbs of cow out of my daily routine? …I was going through about 48 eggs a week with Paleo (mornings only!). This can’t be good.

      Help!

My opinion on this is that Legumes are something in the diet that need to be cooked and it wasn’t until 10k years ago that we introduced these grains, legumes etc.. into our diets.
As quoted from this website also
“Lentils have similar traits to grains in their make-up; they contain phytates which inhibit nutrient absorption and cause inflammation. They also contain lectins and play with healthy hormonal functions”

You can get proteins from sources such as Chicken, Fish, Seafood and Eggs and I highly suggest (being a personal trainer) we take a protein powder (although not strickly 100% paleo) due to the fact it is very hard for us to take in high amounts of protein throughout the day in our diets.
Don’t be afraid of eggs, especially if organic, they are a complete protein and they yolks are high in good colesterol!
